Why Air Taxi

The Faster, Greener Way to Travel

Dramatically faster than driving
Air taxis fly direct, above the traffic. A journey that takes 60 minutes by car takes under 10 minutes by air taxi — every time, regardless of traffic conditions below.
🌿
88% less CO₂ than a car
eVTOL air taxis run on electricity with zero direct emissions. On a renewable-powered grid, a seat produces just 2g CO₂/km — compared to 171g for an average petrol car.
🔇
Quieter than a helicopter
Electric air taxis operate at around 45–65 dB — comparable to normal conversation. No jet noise, no ground vibration. Safe and community-friendly in urban areas.
🛡️
Aviation-grade safety standards
eVTOL air taxis are certified to the same exacting safety standards as commercial aircraft — FAA, EASA, CAAC. Multiple redundant systems, automated flight management, and experienced pilots.

FAQ

Air Taxi Questions

What is an air taxi?
An air taxi is an eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft designed for short urban journeys. Air taxis take off and land vertically like a helicopter, are powered entirely by electricity, and carry between 2 and 6 passengers. They operate at low altitudes — typically 150–600 metres — above city traffic, covering routes in minutes that would take 30–90 minutes by road.
Are air taxis available now?
Air taxi services are commercially operating today in Shenzhen, China, operated by EHang using the CAAC-certified EH216-S aircraft. Over 100,000 passenger flights have been completed. Commercial air taxi services are expected to launch in Dubai, New York, Miami and São Paulo in 2026, followed by London, Singapore and Tokyo in 2027.
How much does an air taxi cost?
Air taxi fares during initial commercial operations are estimated at £90–£160 in London, $60–$130 in Dubai, and $80–$180 in New York. Prices are initially comparable to premium ride-hailing services and are expected to fall significantly as fleets scale up and battery technology improves. See our routes page for specific fare estimates by city.
Is an air taxi safe?
Air taxis are certified to the same exacting safety standards as commercial aircraft. Every eVTOL operator must obtain type certification from their national aviation authority (FAA, EASA, CAAC or equivalent) before carrying passengers. Aircraft are designed with multiple redundant systems, automated flight management, and the ability to land safely even with full power loss. EHang's EH216-S has completed over 100,000 commercial passenger flights without incident.
How do I book an air taxi?
For cities with live air taxi services (currently Shenzhen), you can book via Air Taxi Service or directly through the operator's app. For upcoming cities, pre-register free and we'll notify you the moment flights launch. No payment is required to pre-register.
Can I bring luggage on an air taxi?
Most air taxi aircraft can accommodate a small carry-on bag per passenger. Large suitcases are not suitable for air taxi travel. Check the specific operator's baggage policy when booking — some aircraft have a small cargo compartment for compact items.
